For the majority of bird species the moment they start their morning singing depends on how light it is outside. This specific clock of nature is so accurate that within certain time range it is possible to tell time by recognizing which bird is singing at the moment.

We usually think: birds leave in autumn, because they are afraid of winter. They fly away from cold and lack of food. But we can look at this phenomenon from a different perspective – birds arrive in spring, to take advantage of free space and abundance of food, to be able to bring up greater number of nestlings.

Spring is the time of nest building. It is worth offering birds a place for a nest in our garden or allotment. However, in March or April it may be too late for that, because some bird species have already chosen a place for nesting in the most suitable territories and are ready for breeding. Yet, from now on we may begin to furnish our gardens, so that it attracts as many birds as possible.
